What is a SCRIPtease? Short answer: a narrative podcast specifically designed as an invitation for collaboration, and a celebration of writing.
One of the initial sparks of inspiration for Hardfun Writing was the desire to create a podcast format that would give writers the chance to see their words brought to life as part of the writing process. More over, those working in Hollywood know that reading script after script drains the life out of the page regardless of the quality of the writing. So why not create a podcast format that could do both; bring the script to life, and help the writer cut through the clutter of dusty scripts on every agent, producer and director's desk.
Drawing inspiration from the tradition of informal Staged Readings in the theatre — the SCRIPtease format puts the writing front and center with no frills or fakery, allowing the drama on the page and instincts of the performers in the moment to bring the story to life. The actual script pages, formatting and all, scroll by on screen, as the the actors record with each other “live,” mics and headphones visible, all to try and capturing that lightning in a bottle feeling that leaves an audience itching to see it fully realized.
